Bielsa 'worried' about Leeds form
Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that he is 'worried' about Leeds United's current slump in form.
The Whites were thrashed at Liverpool on Wednesday and will be looking to bounce back when they host Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
Bielsa, who is arguably going through his toughest spell since joining Leeds back in summer 2018, has been speaking about his side's situation and explained how he hopes to fix it.
In his pre-match press conference, he said: "Very worried. The worry is proportionate to the results we have obtained.
"I am a normal person. I do a job that has a lot of repercussions. I feel like all the people who are not able to offer the results expected.
"The situation I am going through is similar to that of a common person where they are not able to achieve what they should. The repercussion of my task is the big difference. I am used to living through these situations."
Mills makes Ayling claim
Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills believes that Luke Ayling must step up to help the squad to recover from Wednesday night's 6-0 defeat at Liverpool.
A brace each from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane guided the Reds to a comprehensive victory at Anfield, as Leeds slumped to their third successive loss and are now just three points above the relegation zone.
Mills admitted that Marcelo Bielsa should've altered his tactics at half-time to ensure the Whites didn't concede many more.
"There are times as a player you must be getting deflated," Mills told Football Insider.
"At Man City, you were 3-0 down after 20 minutes and were getting ripped apart. As a senior player, you must be thinking ‘We need to change this, we’re not going to beat Man City 4-3. We are just going to be continued to be ripped apart’.
"It’s the same at Liverpool, 3-0 down you have to think ‘Let’s shut up shop and win the second-half’.
"These heavy defeats are crushing for your confidence and when they are coming thick and fast, seven at Man City, four at Man United and six against Liverpool. Phwoar, that’s hard to take.
"Teams have worked it out and the better teams are starting to pick them off and exploiting the weaknesses, like set-pieces.
"There has to be a time where you change the way you play because at the moment it doesn’t look like they are going to be successful.
"Luke Ayling is a senior player and he’s a right-back, he must be thinking ‘This is not working, we are getting ripped apart left, right and centre. We cannot keep doing this because if we do we’ll get beat again and again’.
"It’s very hard to keep getting beat, it’s not comfortable."
Why Leeds have an advantage
With 13 games left to play, Leeds United have unexpectedly found themselves in the midst of a relegation battle.
The Whites looked like they would climb to the safety of midtable after a Jack Harrison hat-trick gave them a 3-2 victory over West Ham United in January.
But unfortunately, they have picked up only one point from their last five games, whilst teams below them have hit their best form of the season, bunching the bottom six of the Premier League together.
Whilst Leeds have been dropping in recent weeks and confidence is low after losing 6-0 to Liverpool, they will be heartened that they still remain outside the relegation places and they have some key fixtures coming up as they look to secure safety.
