Leeds United news as Gabby Agbonlahor delivers 'matter of time' Jesse Marsch verdict

A look at the latest Leeds United evening headlines on Tuesday, 25 October.

'A matter of time' before Jesse Marsch is sacked says Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor believes it's a matter of time until Jesse Marsch is relieved of his duties at Leeds United following their defeat to Fulham. The Whites defeat at Elland Road saw them drop into the bottom three for the first time this season.

“He’s under big pressure,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider. “The next game is Liverpool away so that’s a game where you can make a statement with a win against a struggling Liverpool. Or, you can get battered by Liverpool and that could be the end for him. It’s a massive weekend for Jesse Marsch.

“He’s come in, got the crowd going and tried to be that manager who is sprinting around, screaming at everyone. That’s not enough to get the crowd on side. It can help you have a few extra games but it’s about results.

“If you are not getting results and the fans are singing ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’, it’s inevitable what’s going to happen. Look at what happened to Steven Gerrard. I feel it’s a matter of time before Jesse Marsch gets the sack. Leeds will know other teams are down there and have got rid of their managers, they can’t be any different. It’s not looking good for Jesse Marsch.

“Leeds are probably looking at the Premier League and thinking it’s going to be even harder to stay up this season. Everyone thought Leicester were down and they go and beat Wolves 4-0. It’s a battle down there and Leeds are in the battle. You can’t lose at home to Fulham. I know Fulham have done well this season but Leeds are meant to be that team where they like playing at home with the fans behind them so they can’t lose at home to Fulham.”

Tim Howard highlights two major reasons behind Leeds United's struggles

Former Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has put Leeds United's struggles down to a combination of poor defending and lack of plan B. The Whites slipped into the relegation zone for the first time this season at the weekend following a disappointing 3-2 home defeat to Fulham.

Leeds have now not won any of their last eight matches and the pressure is continuing to build on manager Jesse Marsch after such a poor run. Marsch's side had shown promise during the early stages of the campaign but are again looking shaky at the back, which has cost them in recent weeks.

Speaking on ' The 2 Robbies Podcast ', Howard claimed that Leeds' 'sloppy defending' is down to the 'bad habits' learned under the previous regime, but admits Marsch must find some sort of plan B in order to stop losing so many points from winning positions.

Leeds United fans' ratings from Fulham defeat as attacking duo dubbed worst performers

Leeds United supporters have deemed not a single player was worthy of over a six match rating in the 3-2 defeat to Fulham on Sunday. The Whites slumped to a fourth straight loss in the Premier League to the Cottagers and extended their winless run to eight matches.

Jesse Marsch's side had opened the scoring inside 20 minutes through Rodrigo Moreno but conceded three sloppy goals which saw Fulham return to the capital with all three points. The frustration surrounding the club from the stands is very much reflected in the fans' player ratings from Sunday, with Luis Sinisterra and Crysencio Summerville handed the highest score with 5.7 .

It was very much a bitter-sweet day for Summerville, who came off the bench to score his first ever Premier League goal. Illan Meslier ( 5.6 ) and Brenden Aaronson ( 5.5 ) were rated as Leeds' next best performers, with the former pulling off a great save from Andreas Pereira in the first half, and the latter creating a number of chances for his teammates.

Wolves manager blow was welcome boost for Leeds United loanee

Queens Park Rangers boss Michael Beale's decision to turn down Wolverhampton Wanderers will have been a welcome boost for Leeds United loanee Tyler Roberts.

The rookie manager has propelled QPR to the summit of the Championship, with Roberts playing a crucial role in their remarkable rise.

Beale's exceptional start at Loftus Road, after previous spells as assistant at Sao Paulo, Rangers and Aston Villa, has not gone unnoticed. But the 42-year-old showed an incredible level of loyalty to his current employers by rejecting the managerial vacancy at Wolves last week,

Wolves have instead stuck with interim boss Steve Davis, who will manage the club until at least 2023.

Jamie Carragher selects Leeds United and Wolves as two clubs under most pressure at the bottom

Jamie Carragher believes Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are the two clubs under the most pressure at the bottom of the Premier League. Both currently sit on nine points and in the bottom three of the table after poor recent runs of form.

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch is coming under increasing scrutiny from supporters after a run of eight games without a win, while Wolves have lost five of their last six matches. Wanderers have already sacked their manager Bruno Lage and placed Steve Davis in interim charge until 2023, but they are yet to see an upturn in results.

Carragher was speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football alongside Sean Dyche, where they were both analysing this season's potential relegation battle. Dyche thinks this year's fight is 'unusual' due to the number of teams that could be dragged into it, while Carragher picked out Leeds and Wolves as the two clubs where the most questions are being asked.

Liverpool's lengthy injury list as they gear up for Leeds United's Anfield visit

Leeds United face a difficult trip to Anfield this weekend where they'll face a Liverpool side struggling to keep up in the title race.

Liverpool suffered a fourth league defeat of the season on Saturday against Nottingham Forest, who started the day at the foot of the Premier League table.

The Reds were without Thiago Alcantara and Darwin Nunez against Forest. Despite their slow start, Liverpool will be buoyed by their recent record against Leeds, which has seen them win nine of their last 11 meetings across all competitions (D2).

Jurgen Klopp issued a number of injury updates after the defeat at Forest. Here is a list of which players are currently in the medical room, and when they could be set to return.
