Leeds United news as Dallas solutions assessed and Bielsa's Drameh message

Here are the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Wednesday, 16 February 2022.

Dallas solutions

Leeds United could have to deal with the absence of Stuart Dallas in a match for the first time since promotion to the Premier League.

Dallas limped off early in the 3-0 defeat to Everton on Saturday and therefore his availability for Manchester United this weekend remains unclear.

The Northern Ireland international has started every single league game in the top-flight and his versatility would be difficult to replace.

Junior Firpo is likely to be fit following a hamstring injury and is a ready-made replacement, however Marcelo Bielsa is not known for throwing players straight back in after injuries.

Drameh message

Cody Drameh has been told he needs to be "more aggressive" by Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa during his loan stint with Championship side Cardiff City.

The young defender has impressed since his January move to the Bluebirds with a string of impressive performances at both ends of the pitch.

Drameh has put that down to two reasons; a piece of advice from Bielsa and the trust that Steve Morison has shown in him.

"Some of the stuff you see on the pitch from me is definitely from Marcelo Bielsa and his coaching staff," he told Cardiff's programme, as per Wales Live.

"Their feedback was for me to be more aggressive and play on the front foot and I think the manager here has brought the best out of me since I've been here.

"His desire to get me in was the main reason that I came here.”

Wright-Phillips worry

Former Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips believes Leeds United's defensive issues could cost them this season as they battle to stay in the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa's side currently sit 16th, six points above the drop zone heading into the back end of the campaign.

However, Bielsa's men have been unfortunate with a number of injuries as Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper have been missing for a whole host of matches.

It has been a frustrating campaign for the Whites, who haven't been able to re-find the same level of consistency as they did last term and Wright-Phillips has outlined why this could be the case.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, he said: "They want to play the same way. But with their injuries, they’re trying to replace with players, no offence, that are not as fit or have the strength.

"Way too open and they concede too many goals. I am worried for them."
