Leeds United news as Birmingham City stance revealed over Whites transfer target

Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines on Wednesday, 30 November 2022.

Birmingham stance

Birmingham City are reportedly holding firm in their stance over Leeds United target George Hall, who still has 18 months remaining on his deal at St. Andrews, according to Birmingham Mail. The Whites have been monitoring Hall for a number of months now and some reports have indicated that they are ready to make their move in the upcoming January window amid Birmingham's ongoing ownership issues.

Hall has made 17 appearances for the Blues in the Championship this season, five of which have come from the start, in what has been a breakout season for the young midfielder. First team football would be harder to come by for Hall in the short term at Elland Road, though a pathway is evidently there with Crysencio Summerville, Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt now very much senior players.

Murphy on Adams

Danny Murphy has praised Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams for his 'tireless' performance in the United States' 1-0 win over Iran on Tuesday. The USMNT secured their place in the Round of 16 courtesy of Christian Pulisic's solitary strike, and will face Group A winners Netherlands on Saturday.

Adams had more touches (84) than any other player on the pitch, and won six ground duels and three tackles, according to SofaScore. He continued his role as the engine of USMNT's midfield, and his stellar display didn't go unnoticed by Murphy.

"Thoroughly deserved," the BBC co-commentator said in his post-match thoughts. "Some wonderful performances. Musah was teriffic again. Tyler Adams, everywhere, tireless performance from him."

Adams on Netherlands

Tyler Adams believes USA have a "huge opportunity" when they face the Netherlands in the Round of 16 on Saturday. The USMNT will be aiming to reach the quarter-finals for only the third time in their history, and the first time since the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan.

Christian Pulisic scored the only goal as they secured their passage to the knockout stages by defeating Iran on Tuesday. Gregg Berhalter's side finished runners-up in Group B behind England, and are yet to taste defeat, after opening their World Cup campaign with draws against Wales and England respectively.

Leeds United duo Adams and Brenden Aaronson both starred against Iran, with the latter coming off the bench, but it has been Adams in particular, who has been receiving the plaudits out in Qatar. The USMNT captain has been an invaluable leader in the heart of midfield, and is relishing the opportunity of facing Louis van Gaal's Dutch outfit in the next round.

"Huge opportunity for us," Adams told ESPN. "It's going to be an amazing game. I think we've obviously played good competition here."
