Leeds United news as Adoni Iraola looks 'set to leave' Rayo Vallecano after turning down Whites move

A round-up of the latest Leeds United headlines on Saturday, May 27.

Former Leeds United managerial target to become free agent

claims former Leeds United managerial target Adoni Iraola is set to turn down a new contract at Spanish side Real Vallecano. The Spanish coach, who spent three years with the La Liga side, was headhunted by the Whites hierarchy as a potential replacement for Jesse Marsch earlier this year.

Iraola would reportedly turn down Leeds' advances, with his side in the hunt for the European places in Spain. However, they've fallen off the pace in recent weeks and talks between the two parties are said to have broken down.

There's no suggestion in the report that Iraola would consider a move to Elland Road if they manage to pull off a great escape, but staying in the top flight would only boost their chances of bringing in a top level manager.

Leeds United told there's only one outcome on Sunday with Everton relegation call made

Few people out there are seemingly giving Leeds United any chance of staying in the Premier League. From pundits and supporters alike, it seems to be a fairly consistent view that the Whites are going down to the Championship.

Most are expecting Leeds to struggle against Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road on Sunday, with the club tipped to not get the three points needed that would give tham even the smallest of chances of staying up. Former Arsenal star Nigel Winterburn isn't of that mind, he believes it doesn't matter what Leeds do with Everton nailed on to stay up by beating Bournemouth, thus relegating Leeds and Leicester City.

Sam Allardyce's Elland Road touchline dilemma as Leeds United approach nerve-racking final day

Sam Allardyce won’t allow what’s happening elsewhere on Sunday to shape proceedings at Elland Road as Leeds United battle to save their Premier League skins. Recent results have left Leeds sitting two points adrift of survival as they head into the final weekend of top flight fixtures.

They know that only a win will do on home soil against Ryan Mason’s out of sorts Tottenham Hotspur, but there’s a strong chance that even three points wouldn’t be enough to see Leeds move out of the bottom three. United’s fate is dependent on results elsewhere going their way too, with Everton and Leicester City in the mix as well.

Everton’s final game of the season comes against Bournemouth at Goodison Park, while Leicester host the same West Ham United side that thumped Leeds 3-1 at the London Stadium last week. Both teams need to falter for the Whites to have any chance of jumping above them and climbing out of the Premier League’s bottom three and fans will be keeping a close eye on both games.

Harry Kane sends Leeds United goal warning as Spurs striker aims for milestone

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has his sights set on hitting the 30-goal mark against Leeds United on Sunday. While Sam Allardyce's side need a win if they are to stand any chance of remaining in the Premier League, Spurs head to Elland Road with a European place up for grabs.

Kane's form has been one of the few bright spots for Spurs fans in a disappointing season. There remains uncertainty over his future with only one year left on his deal at Tottenham, although the club have no intention of selling their star forward this summer.

Kane has repeatedly insisted his focus is on finishing another prolific season strongly as Spurs prepare to visit Leeds on Sunday with Europa Conference League qualification up for grabs. Despite Tottenham's poor campaign, Kane has closed in on Alan Shearer's record haul of 260 Premier League goals.
