Leeds United loanee Joe Gelhardt receives 'brilliant' assessment by Sunderland teammate Dan Ballard

Joe Gelhardt Dan Ballard Leeds United Sunderland Bristol City Illan Meslier Rosco Ross Stewart Everton

Sunderland defender Dan Ballard insists Leeds United loanee Joe Gelhardt has been 'brilliant' in the absence of main talisman Ross Stewart.

Stewart has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an Achilles injury and scored 10 goals in 13 appearances in the Championship this term.

Gelhardt joined Sunderland from Leeds on loan in January, and has been tasked with filling the void as the Black Cats' only out-and-out centre-forward.
