Leeds United loan watch as Charlie Cresswell suffers gruesome injury, midfielder's first start

Charlie Cresswell completed his third straight 90 minutes for Millwall as he kept a second clean sheet on the bounce in their goalless draw against Hull City.

The defender required stitches and played the remainder of the game with a bandage wrapped around his head, after Oscar Estupinan was dismissed for a reckless high challenge.

Estupinan crashed his studs into the right side of Cresswell's face and was rightly given his early marching orders in the 37th minute at The Den.

Cresswell shared his battle wounds on Instagram shortly after the game with the caption, "Love this game". Fellow Leeds loanee Jamie Shackleton was named on the bench for the second consecutive game and replaced Billy Mitchell to feature for the last four minutes.

Mateusz Bogusz was presented with his first start of his second loan spell with Spanish second-tier outfit UD Ibiza as they ended a run of five straight defeats. Bogusz shinned a cross from the right onto the post during the first half and was substituted in the 69th minute as his side drew 1-1 against CD Mirandes.

Daniel James was brought on in the 76th minute of Fulham's agonising 2-1 defeat against reigning champions Manchester City. The Cottagers fell behind when Julian Alvarez opened the scoring but Andreas Pereira equalised from the spot after Joao Cancelo was sent off.

Fulham held Man City until the fifth minute of second half stoppage time when Erling Haaland's penalty earned all three points for the hosts.

James was ineligible for Fulham's victory over Leeds, and was an unused substitute in their goalless draw against Everton. The Wales international made his first appearance for the Cottagers since their 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on October 20.

Ian Poveda missed Blackpool's 1-0 home defeat against Luton Town due to illness, while Tyler Roberts won't be returning for Queens Park Rangers before the World Cup after he suffered a recurrence of a calf injury.

Helder Costa has also been out of action since mid-October as the Qatari Stars League is taking a two-month break for the 2022 World Cup.
