Leeds United are reportedly set to reignite their interest in Huddersfield Town midfielder Lewis O'Brien, a player the Whites were heavily linked with last summer. O'Brien has been one of Huddersfield's key players this season, helping the Terriers to a third-place finish in the Championship.
They overcame the Championship's surprise story of the season, Luton Town, in the play-offs to secure their place at Wembley, where they will face off against Nottingham Forest for a spot in the Premier League. The 23-year-old has made 49 appearances in all competitions for Carlos Corberán's side this year, and the Sun reports that Leeds are interested in adding O'Brien to their squad for next season.
He was on Leeds' radar last summer, but the Whites were unable to come up with a satisfactory offer for the Huddersfield midfielder. However, there could be the chance O'Brien won't be available if Huddersfield beat Forest in the Championship play-off final, with the Sun further noting that he could be offered a new deal, his second contract in a year, if the Terriers earn promotion.

It is reported the midfielder would be available for a fee of around £10m. However, a new contract for O'Brien would almost certainly mean the removal of the reported £10m release fee clause. Central midfield is a position Jesse Marsch will want to strengthen this summer, especially given the interest surrounding England international Kalvin Phillips.
At times, Leeds' squad depth at certain positions last season was alarming. If they want to avoid a relegation battle next season after scrapping survival on the final day of this season, the Whites will need to recruit strongly this summer.
They have already signed up Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Brenden Aaronson on a five-year deal and will be hoping to conclude more business in the coming weeks.
