Manchester United are set to allow midfielder James Garner to leave before the end of the transfer window, according to the Athletic. Leeds United along with Everton, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton have all shown an interest in Garner over the summer though it is yet to turn into a concrete offer.
The Red Devils are said to be willing to listen to offers in the region of £14million for Garner, who new manager Erik ten Hag had been keen to take a look at during pre-season. However, the 21-year-old has not played a single minute of action in their opening two Premier League matches despite their appalling start to the new campaign.
Leeds have already brought in two new midfielders this summer with Marc Roca arriving from Bayern Munich and Tyler Adams joining from Red Bull Leipzig. It appears unlikely that the Whites will sign another one before the close of the window, even with the fresh availability of one of their targets earlier in the window.

Garner’s stock has risen majorly over recent seasons having spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest. He played a huge role in their promotion to the Premier League last season and they are one of the teams reportedly keen on signing him this summer.
That said, Forest have already moved quickly to sign several midfielders already during the window, and others in the pipeline. Lewis O’Brien has joined from Huddersfield Town, Cheikhou Kouyate has signed on a free transfer, Remo Freuler has arrived from Atalanta, Orel Mangala made the switch from Stuttgart, while bids have also been lodged for Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and Frankfurt’s Djibril Sow.
