Jesse Marsch and Leeds United supporters will be holding their breath after Crysencio Summerville limped off the pitch against Elche. Any suggestion of a “friendly” fixture was rubbished seven minutes in due to a nasty collision.
Summerville - one of the standout performers for Leeds this season - was immediately withdrawn by Marsch. John Nwankwo, the Elche player he collided with, was also substituted shortly after the challenge.
The news is hardly ideal for the Whites as they prepare to stage their Premier League return. Summer signing Luis Sinisterra is already injured with a long-term injury, leaving Marsch short of options out wide.

Summerville had scored in each of his last four top-flight appearances before the World Cup break. A Netherlands under-21 international, the winger is the brightest young talent at Elland Road.
Supporters, unsurprisingly, were livid on social media after seeing the Dutchman hobble off. Some preferred to draw a silver lining from his injury, thinking the situation may force Leeds to act in the January transfer window.
@CainDRDZ: Honestly Summerville going off injured might be a blessing, hopefully we can finally see a fucking striker and another winger in the window
@Ash_LUFC_: Summerville down injured. Leeds United are back!
@ryaaan1993: Great that’s Summerville out for god knows how long
@CrambazzledTask: Summerville injured after 7 minutes. Great.
