Leeds United fan spots cheeky message amid Brenden Aaronson transfer interest

A Leeds United fan has spotted a change to Brenden Aaronson's Wikipedia profile after it was reported that the Whites had made a formal offer to Red Bull Salzburg.

The Athletic claimed that Leeds have tabled a bid believed to be in the region of £15m for the talented USA international, which has subsequently been rejected.

The report states Salzburg's valuation is higher than that but the Whites remain keen and hope to agree a deal between now and the end of the month.

However, Aaronson could still become the Whites' first signing of the January transfer window and it's safe to say the Leeds faithful are excited with this bit of news.

Someone has gone the extra mile by changing the introduction to Aaronson's Wikipedia status.

In addition to an overview of Aaronson's current club, age and national team, a sentence was added at the end of the paragraph, saying: "And soon he will join the mighty Peacocks and lead us to glorious ALAW."

It's easy to see why the Whites want to sign Aaronson, though, given his record since he joined the club from Philadelphia Union back in January, scoring 10 goals and grabbing 12 assists in 51 appearances.

Leeds supporters are also excited to see this latest development, with one fan suggesting it's a signing that would take the club forward, while another claimed it's just what the Whites need.

Here is what some had to say on social media.

@eltel89: Hope we go again and get this kid. Very similar play style to Conor Gallagher who we were very keen on. Fits the bill with the US links with 49ers too. Get him in, cracking player. #lufc

@JackSnowden18: Another box-to-box midfielder with age on his side, just what we need.

@jalager: January finally sprung to life from an #lufc point of view! Won't pretend to have any depth of knowledge about Aaronson but his profile sounds right, and his level very promising. If we can pry him loose he should arrive fit and ready to make an impact sooner rather than later.

@markydh: If we do manage to get the Aaronson deal done in the next 13 days, it wouldn’t be a panic signing. It would be a signing to take us forward to the next stage of our development as a PL club. Fingers crossed #lufc

@SteveLTurner: Yes please

@DannyLUFC96: Exciting player

@lufcluca: They won’t sell, sadly. they already said they won’t until summer, big champs league game upcoming

@PittLeedsUnited: Hopeful this one lands. Had thought this rumor fizzled out. Watching him as part of the USMNT, he brings the energy you expect from a Leeds player out on the pitch. Deal doesn't sound close though. #lufc
