Leeds United fan banned for shouting vile racist abuse at West Ham's Michail Antonio

A racist Leeds United fan who shouted vile abuse at West Ham player Michail Antonio during a Leeds match has been ordered to do 100 hours community and banned from attending football matches for four years.

Gary Hawkins, 52, was sentenced by magistrates yesterday and also given an eight-week custodial sentence, suspended for 12 months, and was ordered to pay £775 costs.

Hawkins, St James Mews, Armley, was convicted of a racially-aggravated public order offence over the incident on September 25 last year where he targeted West Ham player striker Antonio from his seat in the East Stand in Elland Road, when the Whites lost 2-1 to the London club. Antonia had scored the 90 minute winner against Leeds.
