Leeds United director Angus Kinnear's programme notes are a fixture of the Leeds United matchday routine. Housed inside the first couple of pages, Kinnear's words are read by many thousands of match-going fans each week.
The Chief Executive's musings were missing from the pre-match programme ahead of the 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, sparking internet speculation that Kinnear was set for an imminent departure from his role. The game, which proved to be Marcelo Bielsa's final in charge of the club, could prove to be a nadir in a particularly trying season.
Kinnear has taken this afternoon's pre-match notes as an opportunity to address the rumours. "I wanted to clarify internet rumours of my imminent demise have been greatly exaggerated," he wrote ahead of the fixture with Norwich City.
"Whilst I appreciate that this won't be welcomed in all quarters, I am pretty certain that Leeds United wasn't built by people who gave up at the first moment the going got tough."
Kinnear has been on the Leeds United Board of Directors for a number of years; an attachment of the Andrea Radrizzani era at Elland Road.
Despite suggestions that a full-scale purchase of the club by US syndicate 49ers Enterprises is in the offing, Kinnear remains insistent that he is staying put in his role at Elland Road.
The Whites are without a win in eight Premier League matches, losing the last six in succession with new head coach Jesse Marsch yet to witness his new side find the net.
The Chief Executive ended his pre-match notes with a declaration to Leeds United fans: "Please give Jesse and the team your usual full and unwavering support this afternoon. There is not a game this season where they have needed it more."
