Leeds United dealt huge Tyler Adams injury blow as midfielder 'undergoes surgery'

Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams is reportedly set for an extended period on the sidelines after going under the knife during the international break. Adams picked a hamstring injury in training during the build-up to Leeds’ last Premier League outing against Wolves at Molineux and was forced to sit out of the contest.

It was hoped the injury wouldn’t keep him out for too long, but, according to Phil Hay of The Athletic, Adams has now undergone surgery to resolve the problem. Consequently, the USA international looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines as he begins his rehabilitation process

The report claims that the club are yet to determine a complete timeframe for the injury, but Adams will certainly be a huge miss for Javi Gracia’s Whites as they battle against Premier League relegation over the next couple of months. Adams has played a pivotal role for United this season, with his performances in the middle of the park under both Jesse Marsch and Gracia earning plenty of plaudits.

This isn’t the first injury Adams has picked up, with a couple of muscle problems occurring throughout the course of the campaign, but he has largely been one of the consistent faces within Leeds’ starting XI. His tenacity and doggedness have been essential to the way Leeds have played and it seems Gracia will be now be considering his midfield options to deal without the 24-year-old.

Both Weston McKennie and Marc Roca are available and they will be the leading candidates to reprise their partnership when Leeds go to league leaders Arsenal on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League.
