Leeds United backed to build on Norwich City win against Wolves tonight

Leeds United can make it back-to-back victories for just the second time this season when they make the trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers this evening. The Whites will be looking to build on their 2-1 win over Norwich City last time out as Joe Gelhardt’s stoppage time was enough to secure all three points.

Leeds know that a result of some kind will be vital this evening following Everton’s stoppage time win over Newcastle United last night. However, Jesse Marsch’s side are up against a Wolves side in good form following two wins in a row – and they will be keen on strengthening their push for a European spot against Leeds.

FiveThirtyEight, a website that uses data to provide predictions on matches, believes Wolves are overwhelming favourites for the clash with a 46% chance of winning, in comparison to Leeds’ 27%. Pundits from across the media have also been giving their views on tonight’s fixture and LeedsLive have rounded them up for you.

Paul Merson – Sportskeeda

In his latest weekly Sportskeeda column, Paul Merson is backing Leeds to secure a second win in a row. He said: “Woah, what a game! Wolves got a good result against Everton last time out, but Leeds' dramatic last-minute winner against Norwich City was quite the story as well! I think they'll really fancy themselves after what turned out to be a much-needed win and build on it with three points at the Molineux.

“It's a massive pitch and Leeds have a lot of pace in their squad - that's something that could hurt Wolves. They are a good football-playing side, but the likes of Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves aren't the quickest players around, so they could really be hurt by Leeds.

“Jesse Marsch has overseen two losses and a win since taking charge, so the jury is still out on whether it was the right decision to sack Marcelo Bielsa. That said, if Leeds can get a result here, it would be unbelievable.”

Prediction: Wolves 1-2 Leeds

Mark Lawrenson – BBC Sport

Mark Lawrenson of BBC Sport thinks Leeds will build on last weekend’s win over Norwich with a point at Molineux. He said: “Leeds got a huge win over Norwich last weekend. It was a very strange ending to the game, but it will give them a lift anyway - and they really needed it.

“Wolves are having a very good season and we saw why in their win over Everton last time out - they are very well organised and generally kept Everton at arms' length. I still think teams can find a way of getting at Wolves, though, and Leeds are definitely more of a threat now Patrick Bamford is fit. They also have Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper back after more than three months out and both of them should play a part at Molineux.”

Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Leeds
