Leeds United have been backed to secure Premier League survival relatively comfortably despite their defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday. The Whites were beaten 3-1 by the Premier League champions in what was their first match following the six-week World Cup break.
FiveThirtyEight’s supercomputer - which uses statistical information and detailed data analysis to calculate how the Premier League table will finish in May – forecasts Leeds to end the season in 15th place, six points ahead of the bottom three. It is now two defeats in a row for Leeds in the league following their late collapse at Tottenham Hotspur in November, but wins over Liverpool and Bournemouth prior to that offered encouragement.
The Premier League table remains incredibly tight in the entirety of the bottom half and the data used by the supercomputer - which changes every week - believe it is going to be an intense fight to stay up. Nottingham Forest (32 points) and Everton (34 points) are expected to finish 20th and 19th respectively, with Wolves (35 points) making up the final place in the bottom three.

That is just one point adrift of safety with Bournemouth and current bottom of the table side Southampton tipped to escape relegation by the skin of their teeth. Elsewhere in the Premier League, Manchester City are still expected to retain their title in race that is set to go right down to the wire, pipping Arsenal to a fifth crown in six seasons by just two points.
Liverpool and Newcastle United make up the remainder of the top four, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur just missing out. Here is the table in full:
1. Manchester City 85 points
2. Arsenal 83 points
3. Liverpool 71 points
4. Newcastle United 70 points
5. Manchester United 69 points
