Leeds United and AC Milan 'keen on' Ivory Coast international midfielder

Leeds United are reportedly keen on signing Sassuolo midfielder Hamed Junior Traore this summer. The 22-year-old has caught the eye with his performances in Serie A and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, as per Sport Witness, the Whites are keeping tabs on his situation.

However, the report claims Leeds aren’t the only team interested in Traore this summer, with Italian champions AC Milan also keen on signing the Ivory Coast international. It is also said Sassuolo, who signed Traore on a permanent deal from Empoli last summer, would be willing to sell him but they will only entertain offers of more than €25million (£21.47m).

Leeds are showing plenty of ambition this summer, with the signings of Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca already secure and they are expected to make more signings as the transfer window rolls on in a bid to help Jesse Marsch make his mark at Elland Road. Traore is an attacking midfielder by trade, but last season most of his appearances came either in a deeper centre midfielder spot or on the left wing.

He made 32 appearances in all competitions for Sassuolo and managed to record eight goals and four assists to help the club to an 11th place finish in Serie A. Traore started his career with Empoli, breaking through onto the scene in 2017 to help the club to promotion from the second tier and he went on to make 32 appearances in his first season in the Italian top flight.

He has taken his career from strength to strength since joining Sassuolo on an initial two-year loan deal and if he were to leave the club this summer, he would do so having made 100 appearances in black and green and scored 18 goals. He’s also picked up four caps for his birth nation Ivory Coast with his latest coming in the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.
