Leeds United are assessing a number of left-back options after deeming it necessary to step into the transfer market, according to head coach Jesse Marsch. The Whites are without a senior left-back at present following the injury Junior Firpo picked up in the pre-season friendly clash against Blackpool earlier this month.
Firpo has been ruled out for the next seven weeks and looks set to miss the first month of the season at the very least. And, with Stuart Dallas currently occupying the treatment room with a fractured femur, Marsch are without a recognised option on the left side of defence.
Leif Davis could be the man to start the club’s pre-season clash with Crystal Palace on Friday in Perth and he will have the opportunity to stake a claim for the spot. However, Marsch admits the club are looking at their options.

The head coach admitted the club are still looking for a man to add to their forward ranks, too. Marsch acknowledged Leeds’ interest in Club Brugge forward Charles De Ketelaere for the first time, but admitted the club are looking at other options.
“I’d say we’re actively pursuing both positions,” the Leeds boss said ahead of his side’s open training session at the Fremantle Oval on Wednesday. “The striker one, I think it’s been well-documented that De Ketelaere was a goal of ours and it’s not finished yet with him.
“We’ve also moved on to some other targets, trying to figure out which would be the best fit if in the end, which is what we believe, he will not be available. At left-back we have a few different candidates and we’re just trying to evaluate where we are with the roster and what we need.”
