Leeds United academy duo Darko Gyabi and Mateo Joseph both featured as England under-20s started their eagerly-awaited World Cup campaign with a victory. Tottenham prospect Dane Scarlett scored the only goal of the game to edge past Tunisia in their Group E contest in Argentina on Monday.
Gyabi was handed a start for the young Lions alongside highly-rated Bristol City talent Alex Scott in central midfield. Joseph was introduced from the bench in the 75th minute in place of Samuel Edozie, with Ian Foster's in control of the group-stage clash.
Scarlett broke the deadlock in the 25th minute, rising highest in the area to head home Harvey Vale's cross. Alfie Devine came close to doubling the lead in the second half, only to turn his effort narrowly wide of the far post, while substitute Daniel Jebbison was denied in added time by Dries Arfaoui.

England continue their campaign against Uruguay on Thursday, before rounding out their group-stage schedule against Iraq on Sunday. Reflecting on the opening victory, Foster told reporters: "We controlled the game from start to finish.
"It is true we could have been a bit more ruthless — the boys were a little nervous, it is normal for the first game. There was a lot of anticipation ahead of this tournament."
Leeds fans could see another of their academy stars in Young Lions action this afternoon, with Archie Gray hoping to feature in England under-17s European Championship clash against Switzerland. The teenager played all 90 minutes in England's opening match, a 4-1 win over the Netherlands on Sunday.
