Leeds United 'Academy Dreams' documentary ready to air as Whites supporters set for rare insight

Leeds United fans will have the opportunity to sit back and enjoy some in-depth insight into the club’s academy this week, with the release of a new six-part documentary. 'Academy Dreams: Leeds United' will be released on Amazon Prime this Friday (September 23), with all six episodes being made available to stream.

The documentary follows the fortunes of Leeds’ young stars during the club’s 2021-22 Premier League season as they look to break into the first-team picture at Elland Road. The likes of Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood, who both broke through into the senior ranks, are expected to feature heavily, giving supporters the opportunity to learn more about the pair.

Both players have made homes for themselves in Jesse Marsch’s set up and Amazon’s cameras were on them last season as they made the jump up from the youth side. A number of other youngsters will make appearances in the documentary, too, as they attempt to follow in the footsteps of Gelhardt and Greenwood.

Mark Jackson is also expected to be involved heavily throughout the programme as last season’s under-23s boss. Jackson made the step up into the first-team following the appointment of Jesse Marsch last season before Michael Skubala was handed the role over the summer.

Former Leeds player Vinnie Jones will narrate the series, which comes a couple of years after the last episode of Take Us Home was released on the same platform. Take Us Home showcased Leeds’ push towards the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa and gave fans a glimpse behind the curtain at Thorp Arch and in the offices, with recruitment being covered extensively.
