Leeds Rhinos have announced the appointment of former Castleford Tigers player Matt Cook as the club’s new general manager. The 36-year-old will report to chief executive Gary Hetherington and head coach Rohan Smith and be responsible for all rugby-related matters whilst overseeing the Rugby Department.
Cook’s arrival at Headingley will help to fill the void left since Kevin Sinfield quit as director of rugby and moved to Leicester Tigers last year. Cook joins the Rhinos after a successful period with the 2021 Rugby League World Cup where he was Operations Coordinator responsible for leading the planning, building, and delivery of the entire tournament’s welfare provision and leading the training logistics across the three tournaments.
A former England international, Cook has a track record at an elite level having made 290 appearances over an 18-year playing career.
