A housebuilder has got planning permission to build 147 new homes in an area of Leeds.
Gleeson Homes got the green light to build on Waterloo Sidings, a new development in Halton Moor. The 16-acre brownfield site will provide housing comprising of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bed properties, 10 of which will be allocated for affordable housing.
Waterloo Sidings, formerly a railway goods siding has been chosen for its good commuting links, only three miles from Leeds city centre. The site was purchased from Network Rail and Leeds City Council. Despite it requiring extensive remediation works prior to development, Gleeson hopes to open show homes in Summer 2024.

As part of its Community Matters programme, Gleeson will support the local community through investments totalling over half a million pounds. This includes £147,000 towards off-site highways, a £74,000 residential travel plan fund, £23,000 towards bus shelter and bus stops improvements and £269,000 for off-site biodiversity Net Gain contributions.
