Leeds mum's anguished plea for help to try to save her daughter's life

A young woman is hoping to raise £200,000 for private brain tumour treatment at a hospital in Germany that her family hopes could save her life.

Scarlet Maughan, a 28-year-old mother-of-one from Cross Green, Leeds, began to complain of headaches in 2015 and initially, medics thought she was suffering from migraines.

Her mother Helen Maughan said she then went for an eye test and then for a brain scan in 24 hours when she was diagnosed with a stage 3 brain tumour. Surgeons removed it and then she was well for a while going for scans, but sadly after 18 months it came back.

Helen said: "She had another brain tumour and had to have more surgery to have it removed then two years after the second surgery it came back for a third time there was more tumour around her brain than before the third time."

Doctors said they could not operate and tried to treat her by other means but this did not get rid of the tumours, though the chemotherapy kept the tumours stable.

Helen added: "Then in October of last year they took Scarlet off her chemo because it had grown half a centimetre now it has gotten worse now the UK is saying there is no more treatments they have given up with my daughter but there is a private hospital in Germany called Vaidam Health, (one of the finest in the country), that is offering to help Scarlet with treatment.

"She is only a young girl married with a little boy aged nine with a full life ahead of her. God speaks before any doctor. Please, please, share this as much as you can she has done a lot of hard Pents in holy places. Please help me save my daughter's life.

"Any donation big or small is appreciated thank you to anyone that donates to help my daughter." Astonishingly more than £190,000 has been raised in just seven days with one generous donor pledging more than £8,000 alone. Anyone who wishes to donate can do so by clicking here.
