Leeds man who collapsed suddenly hunting for kind McDonald's stranger who saved him

A Leeds man is hoping to trace the 'kind Samaritan' who helped him when he had a seizure and collapsed in Leeds city centre.

Robert Tano, 31, from Morley, Leeds, was in the city centre last Sunday (May 7) when he had a seizure and collapsed. Robert, who suffers with epilepsy, was on his own when he collapsed and wants to find the person who waited until the ambulance arrived to help him.

The 31-year-old claims he was lucky he didn't lose sight in his right eye from the seizure - when he fell his glasses dug into his face as he hit the floor leaving a huge bruise and swollen eye.

Robert says he had gone into Leeds city centre for something to eat and a bit of shopping. He said he was walking along Briggate when his vision went black. Robert said: "From there I woke up in an ambulance outside McDonald's, there was paramedics and a random person who had made sure I was alright until the ambulance came.

"I am counting my lucky stars that I wasn't robbed or anything and I just want to thank the person that helped me, I am so grateful.

"Lucky I didn't loose my right eye when I collapsed as well, because my glasses bruised my face from when I hit the floor and they dug into my face. If it had gone a bit further my right eye would have been gone, I have been very lucky."

"It happened out of nowhere."

Usually, when Peter travels from his home he will be accompanied to avoid accidents like this, hioweber in this case he decided to brave Leeds alone.

He added: "Its changed my life having this medical conditions, I can't apply for some jobs and I can't learn to drive. But I'm not going to let it stop me enjoying my hobbies.

"I was really taken back by this random act of kindness. I won't let it stop me enjoying life, despite having epilepsy."
