Leeds fish and chip shop owners 'scared' as prices set to rise 'astronomically'

Leeds fish and chip shop owners say prices could rise “astronomically” and fear many chippies will shut down in the coming months.

This has been caused by inflation resulting from the impact of several factors: Brexit, Covid-19, the knock-on effect of Russian sanctions and the possibility that VAT will rise, according to the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF).

Andy Crombleholme, 36, the owner of Kirby’s in Meanwood, has said just like every other industry, chippy's are going to "struggle".
