Leeds dad devastated as trip to Ukraine border reveals refugee crisis and supermarket turned into camp

A Shadwell businessman and his childhood friend of over 50 years have been hailed as "courageous" after they volunteered to travel to the Ukraine border.

Scott Hopkins, from Shadwell, Leeds and Derek Parker, from Nottingham drove to Premysl, which is right at the border between Poland and Ukraine.

Mr Hopkins, 54, who owns a building business and Mr Parker, 55, who runs a courier business left the UK on Friday, using their own resources to deliver medical supplies to Ukrainian refugees.
