Leeds City Council's CEO Tom Riordan has published a statement following the sad news that a council worker died on Thursday, April 28, after falling ill at work. The incident took place shortly after 12pm on Fleet Lane, Oulton with a large police presence in place following calls from the ambulance service.
Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of the emergency services. West Yorkshire Police issued a statement stating the death was not being treated as suspicious and the road was closed whilst an investigation took place.
Police were called following eyewitness reports passing the scene on social media. It is not known what was the cause of death at this time, it is believed to be a medical incident.

In a statement from the council, CEO Tom Riordan, he said: “It is with deep regret that I can confirm one of the council’s employees sadly passed away yesterday after falling ill while at work.
“Our hearts go out to his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time. The thoughts of everyone at the council are very much with them.”
In a statement released by West Yorkshire Police, they said: “At 12.04pm today (Thursday), police were notified by the ambulance service that a man was receiving medical assistance in Fleet Lane, Oulton.
The man was sadly pronounced deceased by paramedics a short time later. Enquiries are continuing at the scene, however the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.”
