More than 1,000 crimes were reported in Leeds city centre in a month, including 298 violent and sexual offences, with hotspots on Briggate and The Calls.
Using the Police.UK website we have put together a detailed list of the types of crimes reported in the Leeds city area, including the areas with the most concentrated number of reports. The crimes fall into 14 categories, including violence and sexual offences, shoplifting and anti-social behaviour.
The data is published by West Yorkshire Police and the latest crime statistics are from June. In June there were a total of 1,140 reported crimes in the city boundaries.

In total there were 1,140 reported crimes in Leeds City in June 2022. There were 298 violence and sexual offences, 166 shoplifting crimes, 145 categorised as other theft and 531 other crimes.
The greatest number of reported crimes were reported in around the Trinity Leeds shopping centre. There were 358 reports of crime with areas close by reporting smaller but still high concentrations.
Below you can see a breakdown of the crimes, including the locations in Leeds and the areas with the most reports, areas closest to the city centre such as The Calls and Kirkgate have received the most reports.
Please note that not all crimes that occurred can be shown on the map, 562 incidents of Crime occurred in West Yorkshire Police could not be mapped to a location and therefore are not on this map.
Below is a break down of those areas as well as the number of crimes reported. Other crime consist of a number of potential reports, the Police UK boundary for the city is show in the image above.
Close to the Calls and Briggate
Of the 385 reported crimes in this area, there were 119 violence and sexual offences, 62 reports of shoplifting, 59 categorised as other theft and 145 'all other crime'.
Kirkgate
In and around Kirkgate there 165 crimes reported, 32 were violence and sexual offences, 27 were reports of shoplifting, 20 were public order offences and 86 were categorised as 'other crime'.
Around Park Square
There were 112 crimes reported close to Park Square in the east of the city centre. 34 were violence and sexual offences, 19 were theft and 48 were categorised as 'other crime'.
Merrion Street and Victoria Gate
There were 242 crimes reported around the Victoria shopping centre and Merrion Street in June. 72 were violence and sexual offences, 43 were public order offences, 39 were reports of shoplifting and the rest were 'other crime'.
Burmantofts
There were 59 crimes reported in Burmantofts. 10 were reports of burglary, nine were for violence and sexual offences, eight were reports of shoplifting and the other 32 were categorised as 'other crime'.
Sheepscar
There were 13 crimes reported in and around Sheepscar. Four were violence and sexual offences, two were for bicycle theft, another two were for criminal damage and arson and five were categorised as 'other crime'.
Temple Road and Crown Point
There were 61 crimes reported near Temple Road and Crown Point Shopping Centre. 15 were violence and sexual offences, 13 were thefts, six were for anti-social behaviour and 27 were categorised as 'other crime'.
Leeds Dock and Hunslet Road
There were 51 crimes reported near Leeds Dock and Hunslet Road. 17 were shoplifting reports, seven were violence and sexual offences, six were public order crimes and 21 were categorised as 'other crime'.
Wellington Street and Whitehall Road
There were 22 crimes reported near and around Wellington Street and Whitehall Road. 12 were for vehicle crime, four were for criminal damage and arson, two were for other theft and four were categorised as 'other crime'.
Burley Street and the A65
There were 27 reported crimes near Burley Street and along the A65. Six were for vehicle crime, five were for anti-social behaviour, four were for violence and sexual offences and 12 were categorised as 'other crime'.
Pearson Street and St Helens Street
There were three reported crimes near Pearson and St Helens Street, one was for theft, one was a public order offence and one was for violence and sexual offences.
