Holidaymakers were ordered to leave Leeds Bradford Airport after fire alarms went off and staff have been praised for clearing queues “efficiently” this morning (Monday).
In a video sent to LeedsLive, it shows crowds of people gathered inside the airport as they had to be evacuated at around 4am after fire alarms went off. One person who was travelling said “it was awful for some people” as they had to wait in the rain.
However, it hasn’t been all complaints about the airport today as people have praised staff who cleared queues caused by early arriving passengers. It comes after bosses urged people not to arrive at the airport earlier than three hours before departure as they are anticipating longer queue times at security.
Sharing their experience, @nutrich said: “Shout out to the security staff @LBIAirport - very well-organised and pleasant. Made a long queue caused by early arriving passengers disappear very efficiently this morning. Thank you!"
@byrne_thomas said: “@LBIAirport through security in 20 mins, well organised and friendly staff. Thanks all.”
@andrewkerr1984 added: “@LBIAirport is grand this morning, a wee Q through security but nothing beyond what you'd expect. Be nice to the staff as you pass :)”
Leeds Bradford Airport has been contacted for a comment.
