Protesters have covered a bank in orange paint in Leeds city centre this afternoon.
A Barclays Bank, in Albion Street in the city centre, has been sprayed with orange paint following a protest. Just Stop Oil supporters have taken action in a protest in Leeds on Saturday demanding an end to fossil fuel lending by banks.
A spokesperson for the support group claimed Barclays is Europe’s largest fossil fuel financier, providing over $166bn of funding since 2015, making it the target of today's (March 25) campaign.
The protest took place in Albion Street in Leeds city centre this afternoon, where the entrance and front of the Barclays Bank was covered with orange paint. A video, which was shared by the action group on Twitter, shows two people spraying the paint all over the bank and pavement.
In the background of the video you can hear a number of people chanting in the protest.
Just Stop Oil said in the post: "LEEDS BARCLAYS BUILDING PAINTED ORANGE
"Two Just Stop Oil supporters have been arrested after spraying Barclays Bank on Albion Street with orange paint, demanding an end to fossil fuel lending by banks. Barclays is Europe’s largest fossil fuel financier, providing over $166bn of funding since 2015."
West Yorkshire Police said: "We have been made aware of a small protest but nothing of that scale. We aren't aware of any arrests."
