Lee Johnson to miss Hibs vs Kilmarnock after undergoing emergency surgery as he sends message

Lee Johnson will miss the weekend clash with Kilmarnock after undergoing emergency surgery.

The Easter Road gaffer had his Gallbladder removed with the capital club set to be charged by Jamie McAllister and Adam Owen with the support of David Gray for the Premiership showdown in the Leith.

The 41-year-old has thanked all the staff in the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for all the help they provided him and he hopes to make a swift recovery and return to the dugout as soon as possible. But he says despite being absent on the touchline, he is 100 per cent with every single player, staff member and Hibs supporter as they bid to win a hugely important three points.

Recovering well, he told Hibs' official website: “I’d like to thank all the staff in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, especially the Hibs fans that looked after me along the way.

“I’m hoping to make a swift recovery and be back in the dugout as quickly as possible.

“Having never missed a game previously in management, obviously I’m frustrated at not being able to be physically attending Easter Road tomorrow.

“However, I am 100% with every player, staff member, and supporter in spirit to fight for a very important three points. GGTTH.”

A club statement added: "We can confirm that Manager Lee Johnson will miss this weekend’s cinch Premiership game against Kilmarnock.

"Johnson fell ill prior to the clash at Easter Road and was immediately taken to hospital to have emergency Gallbladder removal surgery.

"With Johnson unavailable on Saturday, Jamie McAllister and Adam Owen will lead the team and will be supported by David Gray."
