The signing of Bruno Guimaraes will undoubtedly boost Newcastle United just when they need it.
United have had defensive woes but that doesn't just boil down to the back four or five, it's a collective thing and they have been desperate for somebody to slot into midfield for some time.
Bruno is an exciting signing and a good young player with a great CV already.
With a handful of days left in the window it's an important one because Newcastle's financial status has made for a tough window as other clubs believe they are wealthy.
Other clubs have tried every trick in the book to get more money from them because they will know the club is desperate to bring players in to avoid relegation.
I have seen reports from Old Trafford on Jesse Lingard - a player that I know well after signing at Birmingham.
The figures have been astronomical for a loan deal and when you are talking about paying £20million for a loan for five months it's crazy.
But that is what Newcastle are up against.
It'll take a great deal of negotiating from the people who are doing these deals to make sure the club don't pay ridiculously over the odds.
I have no doubt they will have to pay over the odds but there has to be a certain limit to get these players.
This sets you up for a fall going forward because then every agent feels they can extract that bigger fee on every single deal.
Newcastle don't want to be classed as easy meat in the market.
Every morning you are waking up and you are seeing different names whether you switch on the TV, pick up a paper or look on your phone, and that's not just down to the journalists, it's down to people briefing them and touting their clients.
Every agent is going to push their players.
It has been mind blowing and it is difficult to keep up with it to be honest.
However, we will see the conclusion soon enough and if Newcastle emerge with four or five players it's been worth it.
Dan Burn would be a great signing for Newcastle
I worked with Dan at Birmingham. He has been linked strongly with the club and I can see it happening for various reasons.
He's an experienced Premier League player and he can play at left-back and centre-back so he will give the squad balance.
He's done a great job at Brighton, and he's obviously a threat from set-plays because of his 6ft 7in frame.
Dan has been part of a gradual build at Brighton who have progressed every year and obviously he's a Geordie lad as well.
It ticks all the boxes so I hope it gets done.
