LeBron James wants to own an NBA team in Las Vegas

Since coming into the NBA in 2003, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has gradually gotten involved in many projects off the court.

Those projects recently resulted in him passing $1 billion in net worth according to Forbes magazine.

He has always had a tendency to plot his next moves well in advance, and in a teaser for the next episode of “The Shop,” James revealed a huge ambition of his.

Via Lakers Daily:

“As it turns out, James may one day be a part of the NBA’s ownership ranks.

“James has previously spoken about his desire to own an NBA team, and he recently added a bit more information about what his future plans may be. Specifically, James revealed that he wants to own a team in Las Vegas.”

There have been some whispers in the last few years of the league adding another team, whether it would be in Las Vegas, Seattle or another market.

Last week, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said the league “will invariably expand” but that it won’t happen “at this moment.”

One issue that Silver acknowledged is that adding one or two new teams would dilute the NBA’s talent pool.

Even though there has been a remarkable amount of special talent around the league over the past dozen years, even a slight dilution of that talent could result in a very noticeable dip in the quality of play throughout the NBA.
