The Los Angeles Lakers may already be counting down the days until LeBron James leaves the franchise and retires, but the 38-year-old has been linked with a sensational trade to Golden State Warriors.
James' contract with the Lakers runs through the 2023/24 season, although he could extend his stay until 2025 if he elects to take a player option with the franchise. James teased retirement after the Lakers were swept 4-0 in the Western Conference finals series against the Denver Nuggets, but it's unlikely he will call time on his NBA career just yet due to a list of factors including the opportunity to play with his son, Bronny James.
But if James does continue his NBA adventure that doesn't mean his future will continue with the Lakers. According to The Ringer, there's a possibility that James could join Golden State Warriors and finally link-up with good friend Draymond Green.
Green has a history of attempting to recruit players, and it's believed that he could turn his attention to James once more. James has already admitted in the past that he'd prefer to play for the Warriors or Miami Heat of he was to leave the Lakers, after being pushed for an answer by business partner Maverick Carter.
James revealed on The Shop that he'd enjoy playing with Green too, as he said: "I like the way Draymond talks to guys. I would love to get into a pissing match with Draymond.
"I love when somebody cuss me the f*** out if I’m not doing my [job]. I would love that with Draymond." But Green isn't the only Warriors member that James has expressed an interest in playing alongside, after naming Steph Curry as the player he'd like to play with most out on the court.
"In today's game, Steph Curry. Lethal," James said when being asked. "When he gets out his car you better guard him. Right from the moment he pulls up to the arena. You might even want to guard him when he gets out of bed. Swear to god."
Curry was flattered after hearing this, and his humble reaction proved that he'd be open to joining forces with James outside of the NBA All-Star game. "That is phenomenal. Well he got his wish. He's captain and picked me for the last two All-Star games, so I don't know if that's surprising but, I'm good right now," Curry responded.
"Whenever you get the interest or curiosity of what it would be like to play with you know... MVP calibre dude, like he is the greatest of all-time. Cool, like it's amazing. We all can live in that fantasy world though."
