It has been an up-and-down year for the Lakers as they try to claw themselves into a playoff spot. They had a huge win on Friday, beating the Thunder 116–111 to move into eighth place in the West while Oklahoma City dropped to tenth place in the process.
Anthony Davis had one of his best performances of the season in the game, scoring 37 points and 15 rebounds. While LeBron James didn’t play, he was so impressed with Davis that he made an Instagram post that not only celebrated his teammate, but made sure everybody knew how close they are in the process.
“To A Non Believer!!!! YEAAAAAHHHH WOE!! We hear all the chatter going on behind our backs but then they wanna smile in our faces when they see us!! “ he wrote, alongside a video of Davis and him embracing posted to Instagram.
James and Davis have now been teammates for four years, and while the team has been very inconsistent in that span, they do have a championship together. Through all the drama that comes with playing for the Lakers, it appears that the two have maintained a strong relationship amid rumors to the contrary.
Davis had a more direct approach to discussing their relationship, as he credits James for a lot of his improvements.
“He’s obviously taught me so much about the game, leadership,” Davis said, via ESPN’s Dave McMeniman.
With just a few weeks left in the season, it’s not too late for Los Angeles to make a run at another title. To do so, they need James and Davis to lead the way together.
