After watching his eldest son lead Sierra Canyon to a playoff win, LeBron James shared a heartfelt message for Bronny on Twitter Thursday night in response to the senior guard’s big-time performance.
Behind a team-high 21 points from James, Sierra Canyon kept its season alive with a 61–55 quarterfinal win over Etiwanda in the CIF Southern California Regional Division 1 playoffs. Shortly following the victory, LeBron, who sat front row for the matchup in a walking boot due to a recent foot injury, voiced his excitement over Bronny’s big day on social media.
“Bronny you were SPECIAL tonight kid!! Keep going! #AlwaysProudDad,” the Lakers superstar tweeted.
Thursday’s contest saw Bronny, like his proud father has so often in his career, take over with a well-balanced effort to lead his team to a clutch victory. After taking a 36–35 lead into halftime, Sierra Canyon (22–10) outscored Etiwanda 25–20 in the second half, notably holding their rival to just nine points in the third quarter.
With Trailblazers’s season continuing on, it’ll be interesting to see what Bronny does as a follow-up on Saturday when the No. 3 seed Sierra Canyon face No. 2 seed Bishop Montgomery in the regional semifinals. And, make no mistake, LeBron will once again be front and center for the contest to cheer Bronny, younger son Bryce and Sierra Canyon on.
