Despite initially playing through injury (and joking with Patrick Mahomes about it), LeBron James is hurt and could be out for a while.
This is awful news for the Lakers, who have had ups and downs during his absence. James, spotted wearing a walking boot on the sidelines, is tweeting through the pain.

LeBron, who asked permission from his sons Bronny and Bryce before breaking the scoring record, has raised his sons to become impressive young basketball players.
We’ve scouted Bronny James in person and we came away impressed by his defense. While he is projected as a top-10 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, he is still yet to decide where he will play basketball next season.
Many talent evaluators feel that he has NBA potential as a point guard, but others feel that he is still several years away from being ready to make an impact in the pros.

Sorry, LeBron. Bronny isn’t better than anyone currently in the NBA.
Look at Johnny Davis. He played two seasons at Wisconsin, winning the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award and the Lute Olson Award for being the most outstanding player in college basketball.
Davis averaged 19.7 points per game last season. He scored 37 points against Purdue’s Jaden Ivey. He dropped 30 points against a Houston team with a top-10 defense last season. Davis also recorded 30 against Indiana, which had a top-25 defense.
He was selected at No. 10 overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, and he is several years older and a few inches taller than Bronny, Yet he can’t even crack the rotation for the lowly Wizards, logging just 62 minutes in the NBA so far this season. Why would Bronny be any better than Davis?

Even if Bronny is playing well, what makes him better than someone like his high school teammate BJ Boston?
Boston was a high school star and a five-star recruit before his one-and-done season at Kentucky. He is 6-foot-7 and has made just one appearance in the starting lineup during his two professional seasons.
We’ve seen Bronny play alongside Boston and Boston was far better. Yet he barely touches the floor for the Clippers. It’s a silly argument and it puts an unnecessary target on Bronny’s back!
Bronny, eventually, could be better than many of the players who are in the NBA. But as of right now, he is still a high schooler who isn’t ready to play in the NBA.
That being said, LeBron has to make a decision. Bronny plays in the CIF State D-I regional final on Tuesday, and it could be the last game of his high school career. The game tips off at the same time as when the Lakers host the Grizzlies and Los Angeles will retire Pau Gasol’s number Tuesday night.
