LeBron James drops retirement hint as Lakers star hints he wants to play with his sons

LeBron James is already looking at which teams get first-round picks in future years as he dreams of playing alongside his sons Bronny and Bryce in the future.

James, aged 37, is father to Bronny James who currently plays as a point/shooting guard for Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles. The 17-year-old has already had success on the basketball court and as a freshman James averaged 4.1 points in 15 minutes per game.

Meanwhile, Bryce James is only 15, but has already shown talent as a budding basketball player and James dreams of prolonging his career to play in the NBA with both boys.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, James said: “I like to throw things out in the airwaves, but I’m not one to [say] what’s going to happen in the next two to three years.

"I am a visionary, but I’m also a guy that lives in the moment. I’d definitely be looking at who got first-round picks in 2024, 2025, things of that nature; 2026, ’27. I pay attention to that type of stuff.

“I feel like I could play for quite a while. So it’s all up to my body, but more importantly, my mind. If my mind can stay sharp and fresh and motivated, then the sky’s not even a limit for me.

“I put it in the air because I like to talk to the basketball gods out there and see if things can come to fruition."

Los Angeles Lakers icon James has already had a stellar career including two Olympic Games gold medals and being named the NBA most valuable player on four occasions. He has also amassed a huge number of business assets outside of the game making him one of the wealthiest athletes around.

While the sport has already given him plenty he hopes that the 'basketball gods' can grant him one final wish to play alongside his sons.

He added: "I’ve always set out goals in my career, talked to the basketball gods, and they’ve listened to all of them. Hopefully they can listen to this last one, too.”
