LeBron James Dedicates 2023-24 NBA Season to Son Bronny James

LeBron James’s older son, Bronny, suffered a cardiac arrest during practice at USC on July 24, but the Lakers star said his son is doing “extremely well” while addressing the matter Monday.

Entering his 21st NBA season, James said he’s going to dedicate this season to Bronny because of everything he’s been through. The NBA’s career scoring leader made the comment at the Lakers’ annual preseason media day.

“I’m going to dedicate this season to Bronny because of the incident that happened this summer,” James said. “It just puts everything into perspective. No matter what’s going on, your life at that point of time, the only thing that matters is your family. To see what he had to go through, what he’s been through over the last few months, it’s been a lot.”

The USC freshman hasn’t returned to full basketball activities yet, as the team continues to monitor his medical condition. James was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect that likely caused the cardiac arrest, and doctors have said he’s expected to eventually make a full return to basketball. The timeline for his return is unclear.
