Boston Celtics forwards Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been named the NBA's best duo after taking exponential steps to becoming legitimate superstars.
Although the Los Angeles Lakers have struggled over the last two years, it's fair to say that both Anthony Davis and LeBron James remain playing at an elite level, with many claiming Davis to be the league's MVP, alongside arguably the greatest player of all-time in James.
James and Davis are the only real current duo to have won an NBA championship (besides Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, with the latter now struggling after serious injuries), with many arguing that you cannot find a better two players on the same roster as the perennial all-stars.
But with the Celtics continuing to dominate this season, with a 21-5 record to start the year, Tatum's name is starting to be mentioned in MVP talks, with his teammate Brown continuing to ascend into super stardom.
Former San Antonio Spurs assistant coach and now Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon has declared the Celtics stars the best duo in the league, ahead of James and Davis, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.
Speaking on ESPN's First Take, Hammon said: "I think without a doubt they are the best. The way they are playing, it is translating into wins and that takes care of everything. You have two stars entering the prime of their career's and you can see the game is slowing down for them.
"They have this factor and chemistry, they understand how to make the right play and they are unselfish."
Stephen A Smith agreed, arguing that Tatum should be the MVP, and is picking the Celtics to win the NBA finals.
He said: "I think Boston might win it all. Jayson Tatum is clearly the MVP. Boston slaughtered the Phoenix Suns, Jayson Tatum is averaging 30 points - this brother is special. The Boston Celtics have the number one offense and are 12th defensively without Robert Williams."
The Lakers, meanwhile have been much improved as of late with James returning to the team along with Davis playing his best basketball we have seen in years.
Davis scored 99 points in a historic two game-run last week, dropping 44 on the Milwaukee Bucks before scoring 55 against the Washington Wizards, as the team will hope to make the playoffs for the first time since winning it all in 2020.
