NEW DELHI: Strong contenders Lebanon on Thursday began their SAFF Championship campaign with a 2-0 victory over former champions Bangladesh at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.

The goals were scored by Hassan Maatouk (74th minute) and Khalil Bader (injury time). However, leading up to the decisive moments both teams exchanged attacks evenly, ensuring a balanced match throughout.
