Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati has called on the United Nations to intervene and pressure Israel to halt what he describes as ongoing 'aggression' against his country. Mikati expressed concerns that Israel is allegedly planning to target Lebanese villages and towns, leading to potential destruction.

In a statement to his cabinet, Mikati accused Israel of pursuing a 'destructive plan' and engaging in what he termed a 'war of extermination' against Lebanon. He has requested the UN Security Council and other influential nations to step in and address the escalating situation.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has expressed his concerns about the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, emphasizing the need to prevent a wider regional war from erupting. Biden assured that efforts are being made to mitigate the tensions between Hezbollah and Israel to avert a potentially catastrophic scenario.

The international community is closely monitoring the situation in the region, with calls for diplomatic solutions and de-escalation efforts to prevent further violence and instability.
