Lebanon’s parliament speaker Nabih Berri, who played a key role in ceasefire negotiations with Hezbollah, has urged displaced people to return to their homes in the southern part of the country. Berri's message was one of hope and resilience, emphasizing that Lebanon had successfully resisted Israeli aggression.
Describing the recent events as the 'most dangerous moment' in Lebanese history, Berri called for unity among the Lebanese people. He emphasized that all sects in Lebanon face a crucial test in saving and rebuilding the country.
The ceasefire agreement includes a 60-day cessation of hostilities, seen as a crucial step towards a lasting peace. As part of the deal, Hezbollah fighters are expected to withdraw 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the Israeli border, while Israeli ground forces are to pull back from Lebanese territory.
Despite warnings from both the Israeli military and Lebanon’s army advising against immediate returns due to ongoing troop movements, displaced Lebanese residents have started heading back to their villages.
