The Lebanese army announced on Sunday that one of its soldiers was killed during armed confrontations with smugglers at the country’s northern border.
In a press statement, the army command mourned a sergeant who was shot dead on Saturday during an exchange of fire with smugglers at the northern border, the state-run National News Agency reported.
On its official Twitter page, the army said one of the two soldiers who were shot during the clashes had died, while the other serviceman’s condition was stable.
