Leanne Crichton, the Rangers women’s manager, has said that she and Derek McInnes both appreciate the privilege that their respective positions affords them as they each look to deliver silverware to Ibrox.
Crichton’s side kick off their campaign this evening with a Champions League qualifier against Slavia Prague, the first game in a four-team mini-tournament which they are hosting at Broadwood.
Win that and they will play the winner of Ajax v Brondby on Saturday evening which would then open the door to a third round play-off tie for the Champions League while those teams finishing in second and third position will transfer into the Europa Cup qualifying rounds.
And Crichton has revealed that she and McInnes are both on the same page when it comes to lending support.
“He's been first class,” said Crichton. “Right away, we've tried to build a relationship within the building. It is a privilege for both of us to be here and working for this football club.
“I am right behind him in everything that he wants to try and achieve this season, and that's absolutely been reciprocated since I've been here, so hopefully we can build success together.”
Crichton has also urged the Rangers support to offer their backing to the women’s team tonight as they look to make the first step on a journey they hope leads to the group stages of the competition.

“It would be brilliant and I would love nothing more than the fans to get right behind us,” she said.
“There's been so much change at the club over the summer, again all welcome change, all real positivity and there are excellent vibes within the building.
“In terms of our collaboration with the men's department, Derek has come in and a whole new group of staff as well who have been first class with us, which is great.
“We are excited to see how their season goes and we will be kicking every ball with them. I would love that to be reciprocated on the other side, which I know it will be.
“If the fans can come on that journey and support both the men's and the women's teams as much as they possibly can it would be amazing.
“I totally appreciate the commitment to support two teams, it's almost nigh on impossible at times, but certainly for European football in Glasgow at this point in summer, I would like to think it would be appealing to some.”
