Leaked Strictly spoiler mysteriously delayed as fans fear 'catastrophic' elimination

Strictly Come Dancing fans were left waiting anxiously as this week's spoiler exit result, set to be aired on Sunday evening, was delayed, causing some to fear a "catastrophic" elimination had happened.

The BBC One ballroom dancing show embraced the spooky season on Saturday night as the celebrities returned to the dancefloor for a Halloween spectacular.

Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman introduced the Halloween special under the watchful eye of judges Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.

Usually when the show has aired the spoiler of who had been eliminated from the competition is leaked online, however, this week it had been delayed until Sunday morning, making fans nervous whether their favourites will remain in the dancing competition.

The delay prompted some Twitter users to predict a shock result had happened.

@escandrew47 said: "I have a terrible feeling about this result… hope nothing catastrophic happened #StrictlySpoiler." @ss4kdiamonds theorised: "Guys I’m telling you they made the audience members sign NDAs when has this ever happened #strictlyspoiler."

@amysafcxx commented: "The only time its been this late is when they go to Blackpool. I have a feeling its a shocker tonight #StrictlySpoiler."

David Thorp, the person behind the infamous Strictly spoiler, took to Twitter to announce the news to his 60,000 followers, who were eager to find out the result.

He wrote: "Sorry guys but I think that’s me done for night. I sleep light so I will keep checking overnight when I wake up but I think we may be depending on the source I used in lockdown which will be in the morning."

This led to a lot of disappointment from fans, with many upset that they would have to watch Sunday's show to find out the result.

Taking to Twitter one fan wrote: "So you are telling me I have to actually watch tomorrow’s show to find out who goes?"

Another chimed: "Please don't make me watch the results show. I need a #StrictlySpoiler."

A third added: "I reckon I've jinxed it. First time I've stayed up waiting this series. I usually check in the morning," as another said: "Have they confiscated the audiences phones or something?"

Judge Anton also urged fans of Strictly not to spoil the results (PA)

Matt Goss, who was the third celebrity to be eliminated during Movie Week, joked: "#StrictlySpoiler I’m going back in!"

The Mirror has chosen not to reveal who was in the bottom two, or who departed the programme this week.

The successive leaked spoiler comes after the BBC considered filming their Sunday night show live to stop the leaks from happening.

Judge Anton also urged fans of Strictly not to spoil the results for others by leaking it online.

The person behind the infamous Strictly spoiler, insists people ‘want to know’ the results (PA)

He said: “It gets on my nerves. Please stop. I don’t know who you are but please stop. Don’t do it. Why would you do it? Nobody knows who it is.

“The audience, like the people who go to [Agatha Christie murder mystery play] The Mousetrap, for example, which has been going for years, we’re all in it together.

“Knowledge is power and all that sort of stuff, everyone has an agreement we won’t say anything, so I don’t know who it is.”

Meanwhile, Thorp insists people ‘want to know’ the results of the live show – but told The Mirror he doesn't spoil it for people who don't want to know, only targeting those who are interested to find out.

“I mean, as far as the people who are accessing it go through me, they are actively seeking it out. They want to know,” David, who has been running his spoiler website since 2012, said.

He added: “So I'm not spoiling it for people who don’t want to know and I do my very best not to – I try limit it to those who want to find out. People google the results and hit my website through searching.

“If there wasn’t a demand for the information to be out there, my site wouldn’t get as many hits as it does.”

* Strictly Come Dancing returns on Sunday at 6.45pm on BBC One.
