Leaked admission that a high-profile Republican convention 'dropped our numbers' has thrown fresh scrutiny on Donald Trump's influence in Texas, after a covert recording captured Senate hopeful Ken Paxton privately lamenting that 'everybody's numbers dropped' following the Dallas event that Trump hailed as 'amazing'.
'So to be honest with you, the numbers, when we did that convention, it dropped our numbers. Everybody's numbers dropped. Right now, yeah, not good,' Paxton says in the recording.
