Leading Scottish crime author set to visit West Lothian

Leading Scottish crime author Chris Brookmyre will be visiting West Lothian next month.

The ‘Tartan Noir’ writer will be stopping off at Blackburn Partnership Centre on Wednesday, May 11 at 10am.

His novel, Quite Ugly One Morning, was turned into a television film in 2003 starring James Nesbitt as Jack Parlabane.

He has since penned nearly 30 novels, including Bedlam in 2013, which was written in parallel with the development of a first-person shooter video game, also called Bedlam.

A spokesperson for the library said of the visit: “The Libraries applied for government funding last year and we were lucky to be granted it. “One of the conditions was for Author visits but they had to be a member of the list the Book Trust have. We found him on the list and e-mailed him to see if he would come. We were lucky to get such a well known author.”

Anyone interested in attending can phone or come into Blackburn Connected to put your name on the list. Call 01506 238990.

Everyone is welcome. You don’t need to be a member of the library to attend.
