Members of All-India Lawyers’ Association for Justice on Friday met with Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant and submitted a memorandum demanding that suo motu action be taken against Hindu right wing outfits that are reportedly harassing Muslim traders and creating communal divisions.
The right-wing organisations are also urging their own community members to not do business with them. Despite knowing this, the police are not initiating action and this is a matter of great concern, they said.
Meanwhile, Muslim community leaders urged members to carry on with their business and not discriminate against non-Muslim traders. Citing stray incidents, they advised people not to get influenced by current events.
During the month of Ramzan, non-Muslim traders function near mosques and other public places and sell breakfast items. Members of the community should continue to do business with them and should not allow hatred to flourish, they said.
