Europe-bound Hearts are on the verge of landing Lawrence Shankland as their next summer signing.
The 26-year-old has two years remaining on his deal with Belgian side Beerschot but it's understood an agreement over a six-figure fee is close. Robbie Neilson is a major admirer of the 26-year-old who he worked with at Dundee United. Hearts have made no secret of their desire to bolster their attacking options after impressive loanee Ellis Simms returned to Everton over the summer. And now the Scotland international is closing in Gorgie amid interest from multiple Scottish suitors.
It's a major boost for Neilson as he adds to his squad ahead of a manic start to the season that includes eight guaranteed fixtures in either the Europa League or Europa Conference League. Shankland boasts an impressive goal record of over a goal every other game during his time with Ayr and United.
Hearts have signed Jorge Grant, Alan Forrest, Lewis Neilson and Kyle Rowles while Alex Cochrane, and it's likely Neilson and transfer chief Joe Savage are finished yet if the right players become available.
Shankland will hope a return to the Scottish Premiership will reignite his stalling Scotland career as he eyes success at home and on the continent with the Jambos this season.
